Women in Dance L.L.C. was established in 2013, inspired by the unique professional dance community in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the mission of the conference is to investigate, explore, and reflect on women’s leadership by presenting innovative and multicultural dance work to celebrate, develop, and promote women’s leadership in dance making, dance related fields, and other male dominated professions.

Women in Dance actively seeks collaborators to host the international dance and leadership conference: Women in Dance Leadership Conference. The inaugural conference took place from October 29th, 2015 – November 1st, 2015 at the Shaw Center for the Arts, Manship Theatre, Baton Rouge, LA, U.S.A. by collaborating with Arts Council of the Greater Baton Rouge and Manship Theatre. The second conference was from January 18th to January 20th, 2018 in New York City, and the hosts were New York University Tisch School of the Arts and Danspace Project.

Women in Dance L.L.C. will collaborate with Drexel University to host the next conference in October 2019 in Philadelphia, PA. Women in Dance would like to continue to bring the conference to different locations in the U.S. and the world by presenting regional conferences and national/international conferences. Through keynote speech, panel discussions, master classes, creative process sessions, film screenings, and live performances, Women in Dance Leadership Conference aims to investigate, explore, and reflect on women’s leadership by inviting world-renowned dance makers/ artists /scholars /directors to present at the conference.
