2024 Women in Dance Leadership Conference is accepting choreography submissions by women/female choreographers to present their work in Los Angeles, CA with local, regional, and national presenters in the audience.
Submission Deadline – January 31st, 2024
Selection Confirmation Date – April 15th, 2024
Conference Date – October 17th to October 19th, 2024
Conference Location – Los Angeles, CA, USA (Site-specific work location)
On Stage Choreography Guideline –
- The choreographer must identify as woman/female
- Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work are all welcome
- Time limit: Between 3-6 minutes for Duet/Solo and between 8- 15 minutes for Group pieces
- All movement forms from all cultures are welcomed
- A $10 application fee for each piece of choreography
- Please understand that each selected work will need to use the existing lighting plot and technical support
- Please know each selected work will have limited tech rehearsal time
Outdoor/Site-Specific Choreography Guideline –
- The choreographer must identify as woman/female
- Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work are all welcome
- Time limit: Between 3-5 minutes for Duet/Solo and between 6-10 minutes for Group pieces
- Please make sure the work is repeatable
- All movement forms from all cultures are welcomed
- A $10 application fee for each piece of choreography
- Outdoor performances are subject to cancellation at short notice because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances
- Companies/performers/ artists understand that minimal to no technical support will be provided for site-specific works. I.e. you will be performing in locations without Marley/stage/lighting and sound reinforcement
- Performers should wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor environment
Submission Guideline
- Only submit a completed work
- The video can be a rehearsal or fully produced work
- The performers do not have to be all women cast
- Please use either Youtube, Vimeo, Dropbox Link, or Google Drive to submit your work
- Only submit a completed video of the work, please no excerpts or full evening work that needs edits as these submissions will not be considered
- If submit a link that is password protected, please provide the correct password or provide access to the file
- Make sure your work does not exceed the maximum length. Pieces that are not within the time limit will not be considered.
- The submission is only complete once the application fee is processed
What is included for selected choreographer
- Selected choreographers will present their work on either 10/18/24 or 10/19/24
- Selected choreographers will receive a a VIP conference pass (70% discount of the full registration) to all conference events
- The performers from the selected work will receive complimentary conference passes to all conference events
- The conference will invite artistic directors from major dance companies and professional festivals to attend the selected choreographer’s presentations
What’s not included for selected choreographer
- The selected choreographers and their performers will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses to the conference location in Los Angeles, CA, USA
- There is no stipend for the selected choreographers or performers to present the work
